Ramen Noodle Soup: Hoes, Souls and Need-to-Knows

#BlackInTheCity was forwarded a very, um...interesting eBook earlier this week and I just can't wait to tell you what I thought about it...

Ramen Noodle Soup for the Soul's author Nova Giovanni has composed what I like to call a commentary-based guide book for modern, dare I say, sexually freed women (and a chapter or two for men) who are exploring their real-life possibilities in relationships, social media, expression and family values.

Although the title plays on the very popular Chicken Soup for the Soul series this ebook isn't a compilation of short stories and recollections but instead all of the tips and ideas are Novas' own.

Ramen Noodle is more real than Steve Harvey's bestseller, Act like a Lady, Think like a Man which is immediately conveyed in the table of contexts...chapter titles include 10 Reasons Why You'll Never Be Wifey, 10 Reasons Why I'm Cheating On You, Dora the Explorer is Ruining Our Children! and The Secret Science to Spotting A Slut safe to say this book isn't for the shamed, light at heart and those that are easily offended.

Ramen Noodle is about 20 pages of insight, reality and most noticeably, comedy.  Nova goes as far as calling R. Kelly a wise man and stands behind his how-to chapter devoted to turning a hoe into a housewife saying "You may need to tell her to cut ff all communication with her mother ... If she doesn't, she isn't serious about converting from her hoe ways to the straight path." I often times found it hard to detect whether Nova was kinda joking around being sarcastic or whether he was using reverse psychology to convince men that, although a little on the bitter side, he's all for defining the female psyche.  He clues his male reader into methods to manipulating the minds of hoodrats, whores and winches to thinking like queens, mothers and reputable relationship members.

Its an hilarious read that, and this may kick me in the arse later on, I completely identified with.

#BlackInTheCity has done a few reviews in the past and I always love tying the relevance to the black community or the female community ... in this case I think this book would be highly influential for the growing community of black women who are trying to change their lives and focus more on getting out of the   materialistic constructs of society.  In the hands of the proper reader it can be an amazing learning opportunity when it comes to finding out what hood (sym. ghetto) guys think about hood women (synonym hoodrats, chicken heads, hoes and sluts) who sometimes, just don't know any better...and vice versa, because women need to know how to deal with male sluts too.

Disclaimer: the term hoodrats, hoes and sluts can be used to define any male or woman having the traits of such, it is NOT race specific to black people.

There you go... I say, READ IT! Tell me what you think.

FAN PAGE EXCHANGE - SUPPORTING EACH OTHER ON FACEBOOK | LinkedIn

The movement has begun... and its spreading.
Many have been trying to answer the question, Is blogging a competition?

And the answer is No, never. How could it be? This question infers that there is a good and bad type of blogger, but the actual truth is that the blogging media is only in competition with the widespread media, those stories that when you turn on the television, radio or log on are all from ...well, the associated press, which I have no qualm with, but I kinda dislike repetition, the same story every 15 minutes annoys me to no end. I mean, frank.

Bloggers are a community, mutually beneficial, that found there was news and information the public needed but weren't getting. They get inspiration from other blogs, advertisements, their everyday lives, personal business, etc., and they're driven by the need to share, teach and receive feedback. Which is why I felt compelled to blog about this movement.

After a few weeks of reading and commenting on some of my favorite blogs I logged onto LinkedIn and found this conversation on the Black Enterprise Network...its an actual network of business owners, not a game of "who can get the most".

The FAN PAGE EXCHANGE is a promotional tool, kinda like #teamfollowback for facebook, much like the Black Blogger Network, helping business owners cross reference each other, build with each other and ofcourse, exchange support. I urge all of you to read about the businesses that are self promoting themselves, much like blogs via their Facebook pages...so read up and by all means, support your local and national small business.

Center Stage San Antonio ... date w/ my new city

So...today I went out ... all by myself ... mostly because no one likes my driving. But you know what ... these people down here dart in and out of traffic just like me...I fit right in.

First stop...getting there...
Ofcouse I had to stop at La Galleria ... I don't think that's the name, but it had a Macy's and a GAP ... perfect combination of mainstream fashion, cuz this sista ain't wearing no 35-gallon cowboy hats.

That was it ... I had a good time. Made it through traffic, through the city, met some sweet people, got a chance to soak up the sites ... next stop, FIESTA TEXAS!! Rollercoasters!!!

Witness 1: Broken Girl and Mr. Love Jones

Opposites...you know the rest...attract.

Or, are opposites really not opposites ... but two very similar posers.

This may be the case for the Broken Girl and Mr. Love Jones .  Modern urban anthropologists shooting the shit at every chance, throwing verses back and forth.  Underneath they secretly planned for the day when either would "find something better to do after work".  So far, nothing had come up, and Broken Girl and Mr. Love Jones dreaded time together, not because it was horrible, but because each day growing closer they feared having to part that much more.

Broken Girl figured that she had fallen for Mr. Love Jones some time after college.  Randomly passing him on the street, with friends.  She tried her best to float by, slowly, giving him the chance to share a common breath.  Girl incountered a lot of his 'types' in that summer, it was fun to her...enjoying a newfound freedom, learning and understanding differences and .. commonalities (lol).

As for Mr. Love Jones, yes...the Mr. Love Jones, he has always been to suave to admit to even the thought of catching feelings.  He's everywhere, all the time, listening in on conversations, speaking his mind, over-thinking, watching, organizing, writing, rapping, loving, singing, being...what more can I say?  He'll be the most charming...but in excess, he'll completely change your mind, he's the ultimate catalysts.

So, back to what happens when they are together...basically on a daily basis for hours on end, neither one easily goes into the 'night hours' with the other.  It's as if they feel it mandatory to get time in together, so they get it over with, and continue with their "other regularly scheduled programming".  More times than not, they'll touch basis late in evening, a refresher and a confirmation that it will all go down again tomorrow.

So...is tomorrow the day?

I'll tell you if I hear something
